LM3102 Diagnostic Bacteriology

Diagnostic Bacteriology Part I focuses on the methods and techniques used to identify and analyze bacterial pathogens especially gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Bacillus, and Clostridium many other gram positive bacteria in clinical settings. Students will study the various types of bacteria responsible for infections in humans, including their morphology, biochemistry, virulence factors, and pathogenic mechanisms. The course covers key diagnostic procedures such as microscopy, culture techniques, biochemical testing, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Emphasis is placed on understanding the clinical relevance of diagnostic results and how they guide treatment decisions and infection control measures.
